Umineko no Naku Koro Ni – 06 – Middle Game

The second arc of Umineko no Naku Koro Ni begins in this episode with its episode revolving around Shannon, George, Kanon and Jessica. The sowing of the seeds of love is what defines the setting of the pieces on the chess board.

With just this episode, we get to see the overbearing relationship between Shannon (Sayo is her real name) to George and Jessica to Kanon and also an early appearance of Beatrice, the Eternal Witch. Both servants have a different view towards the witch and the anime portrays that strongly.

Jessica reminds me of Mion as well who has a responsibility or perhaps a role in being the heir of the Ushiromiya family, however, the other side of her is a fun loving and outgoing girl. However, she has a case of asthma

Also, it is noted that in this arc, Beatrice bears a different facial expression now (biigger eyes and a “younger” look), implying a possible different role. It may also mean that the witch has the powers to look like anyone. Nonetheless, in the opening sequence, her wall poster shows that she is wearing a skirt instead of her usual gown.

Now, for those might who have forgotten, in the previous arc, Battler has challenged the witch in denying her existence and Battler’s explanation of the 2 sides of the chess board have also implied that in the upcoming arcs/episodes, we will get to see a few noticeable things – perspectives outside and on the chessboard and 2 sides of it.  Not gonna spoil much but this is meant to avoid possible confusion. The next episode should get us starting into the core plot (as seen in the first arc) where things will start to get interesting.

and yes, this episode is simply full of Shannon and Jessice love :D

and yes again, Kanon has a dynamic height. :P
