End-of-Year 2008 @ Singapore Expo: Mega Galore

oOgA and (self-appointed) reporter nutcase23 is back with photos of this great event.

I enjoyed myself immensely, even though I was one of the security helpers during rush hour period.

This was certainly an event comparable to Cosfest 08 and AFA’08, even if the scale was smaller.

As usual, pictures are after the break.

oOgA: What I will be covering is only a minority as I have to rush off at around 2. There were some very nice cosplayers and the overall event was enjoyable. Sadly, we weren’t part of the press media

nutcase23: I think I missed out on alot of photo opportunites today. I volunteered as security personnel for the event and couldn’t abandon my post to chase after cosplayers during my shift so…

But I did manage to get some shots in before and after my shift so here goes.

Here is what it’s like in the early morn.

nutcase23: It got crowded pretty fast.

There were the usual booths selling their merchandise like accessories for cosplayers, artworks and trinkets like bookmarks and badges as well as booths set up just for display purposes. And of course booths selling figurines.

nutcase23: Did I mention I brought Figma Miku as well?
Anyway, let’s get down to the Cosplay!
First up we have some Code Geass cosplay.

nutcase23: While not as impressive as the Exia cosplayer we’ve seen thus far, the Lancelot cosplayer was nevertheless impressive.


nutcase23: We also got some D.Gray Man cosplayers. They are starting to become as common as Naruto cosplayers.


I like the Krory cosplayer ^^


They seriously look the part. Good Job (^_^)b

nutcase23: Apparently there were some terrorists running around. They wanted to bomb the place to help rid the world of the otaku menance.

nutcase23: Fortunately, they didn’t succeed due to our vigilant security personnel ^^”

nutcase23: With peace restored, some cosplayers took it upon themselves to reassure the public.

nutcase23: Some of the Vocaloid cosplayers also decided to liven up the crowd.

nutcase23: The event was well organised with none other than Maid Guy manning the information counter. What can go wrong with that?

nutcase23: There was a whole group of Naruto cosplayers at the event. While that is nothing special by itself, they were actually one of the cosplay competition teams and numbered more than 20 at least. Their performance for the competition can be descibed as nothing short of impressive, consisting of a showcase performance of most of the characters shown in the Naruto series. I know the volume kinda sucks in the video. I think my finger was over the mic. Just crank up the volume ^^”.

nutcase23: Is any watching Kuroshitsuji? Although I heard there was yaoi in it, the show hasn’t shown much with regards to that aspect. Not a bad show.

nutcase23: I love these 2. Their performance in the team cosplay category was very impressive. They were second to the Naruto team which obviously swept the voter polls.

nutcase23: While we are on the supernatural theme, there was a very impressive cosplay of Yuuko from xxxHOLIC. She won best Individual Female Cosplay. No surprises there.

nutcase23: And while we are still here on the supernatural, anyone watching Vampire Knight Guilty? The show is finally getting good with a few surprises here and there. I reccommend a try at least.

oOgA: The crowd in EXPO were there for a reason, there was this Buddhist religious talk or something in the other event hall but overall, the mix of the crowd makes EXPO a lively place again. Arriving at EXPO after I finished my work in CBP (yes, i work near there), I was greeted with a warm sight of cosplayers…and a welcome sign.

oOgA: I was greeted with this pair of cosplayers on the floor, posing. Cute.

oOgA: As I made my way out, I saw this video interview taking place and also some nice cosplayers who are outside, so I decided to take out my camera again before going home.
