Ignite! Music Festival 2009

Matt (A Vacant Affair)

Ignite! Music Festival, an annual student-driven music festival held at Republic Polytechnic (RP). A 2 days festival held on 24th & 25th of July, at the Lawn, Republic Polytechnic (RP).
Won’t be writing details stuff on the band or music, cause I believe in that people should listen with their own ears, as everyone has different preferences for music (will provide links to the bands’ sites for sample songs), and enjoy the photos from the event!

Day 1

Juxtapose

Heregoesnoth!ng
A fully acoustic band which also performed on Channel 5 “Live n’ Loaded” before.

Qovein
Qovein is purely made up of only Republic Polytechnic students, played mostly rock tunes and covers of Paramore songs.

Caracal
One of my favorite band of the night, hard rocking tunes and high energy showmanship, and the released of their Phoenix EP, great song by the way!
Song pick: Phoenix

53A

A Vacant Affair
Headlining day 1 of Ignite! 2009, a post-hardcore band who needs no introduction, played at various gigs like Baybeats, Singfest, School Invasion Tour, Lime Sonic Bang, and have been appointed the opening band for bands like As I Lay Dying, Story Of The Year, and The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus during their Singapore tour.
Song pick: Crestfallen, We Are Not The Same.

Day 2

Tacit Aria

King Kong Jane

An indie rock band which performed at Baybeats 2007, and won Power Jam 2008.
“If It Wasn’t For You” will by my song pick.

Vertical Rush

One of my favorite local band, which is also the first few local bands that I’ve watched live and like their music.
They have performed at major events like Baybeats Festival, Mosaic Music Festival, Sonic Festival, Esplanade: Theatres At The Bay, and many other events.
Song pick: Angels, Spaceman, and Your Last Song

The November Iris

Fat Skunks

Saw this band previously at 987FM Life’s A Beach gig, pretty good reggae music from them.
But tonight, it was not just good but awesome, they got the whole crowd moving and singing along to their songs, catchy and groovy tunes.
Power to the people!
Song pick: Revolutionista, Le Motetas.

Trella

Playing for the first time with the new vocalist, Weiwen from For This Cycle.
Do try out their songs at their MySpace!

The Great Spy Experiment

The band everyone has been waiting for the night, The Great Spy Experiment!
Another local band that needs no introduction, performed at major local events like Baybeats, Singfest, Mosaic and ZoukOut, and went to perform at South by Southwest music festival in Austin.
A must to try their music if you have not listened to them, and do watch the awesome PV of their song Class “A” Love Affair.

With the last photo, that concludes my photo coverage of the 2 day event of Ignite! 2009 Music Festial, which is truly an enjoyable ride for me, with all the great bands and lovely lightings.
I will definitely go for the next Ignite!

Special thanks to Kelly from Republic Polytechnic and Vertical Rush for the chance to shoot this festival.
