PS3 Finally Hacked ?

Sony’s Playstation3 had long remained untouched and was uncompromised (in a way) for the past few years. However, in a recent post on Geohot’s  blog, a claim was made that the console has finally been compromised with full read/write access to the entire system memory and complete control over the processor without the use of mod chip.

George Hotz is pretty well known in the iPhone  community and the recent claim remains debatable as the exploit was not unveiled due to obvious reasons. Here’s a quote from his blog:

I have read/write access to the entire system memory, and HV level access to the processor. In other words, I have hacked the PS3. The rest is just software. And reversing. I have a lot of reversing ahead of me, as I now have dumps of LV0 and LV1. I’ve also dumped the NAND without removing it or a modchip.
