[PC] Left 4 Dead Review

Zombie killing has never been that fun

Zombie killing has never been that fun

If killing hordes of raging zombies stirs your interest, Left 4 Dead is a definitely must try. From the creators by Valve, this cooperative survival horror in first person shooter mode sets the player among 3 other survivors, which can be AI or your fellow friends in various missions while surviving hordes of zombies and monsters. The game uses Source engine and was released last year in November.

I wasn’t able to play that game until recently and honestly, I am caught in the game as the game do have its interesting elements.

Gameplay

Breaking up into Campaign cooperative mode or a Versus mode, the setting of the game takes place in urban or rural deserted areas where hordes of infected awaits you. It is up to the player to explore the potentials of the obstacles found in-game for their own survival.

Campaign pits the 4 survivors in a scenerio where it is further divided into chapters where they are given some mission rules to follow to  reach their target. The final mission usually puts the survivors to defend against waves of zombies and monsters before rescue arrives.

Versus Mode brings the excitement to a different level where 4 other players can join as the Infected to battle against the survivors. The Infected carries unique skills such as immunity of fall damage which the survivors have. Together, they play through the campaign where eventually the team will be awarded with points on how well they perform.

Nice shooting there

Personal Opinions

Left 4 Dead is indeed a very good game to get a few friends together for some zombie shooting or even a friendly play against each other. Powered by the Source engine, the graphics aren’t really impressive as Far Cry or Call of Duty, it is the gameplay that counts in this game and the also the ambience that builds up in-game. Monsters are pretty standard where they are divided into a few specific classes. The only complaint I have is that they will release some nice updates to support new campaigns.
