Bad news for those who were hoping there is in-game LAN support for Command and Conquer 4. The answer is no. According to an interview between Destructoid and the lead designer Sam from Command and Conquer 4, the upcoming strategy title won’t provide any LAN or dedicated server support to its players.
Reason ?
This system is “across single-player, multiplayer and skirmish and all the information is stored in a server. So if you go to another machine — friend’s house, Internet café — whatever, you can login with your profile and all the stuff you’ve unlocked is accessible to you there.
Apart from there, there is also no dedicated server support, EA Los Angeles had reshaped the networking on the backend.
Perhaps this is a sign, LAN gaming is coming to an end ? or rather an evolution. What’s your thoughts ?
