It was a fun day in Esplanade (will be posting photos in another post) today and to make it better, I went to check out an Australian animation film – Mary and Max in Animation Nation 2009, held in the National Museum of Singapore. Konata was excited too of course :3
It is the last screening for Mary and Max today though for those are curious, here is a short summary of what Mary and Max is about by checking out the trailer below.
Overall, I have enjoyed the entire movie and there were so many moments of laughter and yet I find the movie a meaningful one, a movie about friendship and distance does not matter. Mary and Max features an unlikely combination of main characters that was featured in the show – Mary, a chubby lonely 8-year-old girl in Melbourne, Australia, and Max, a 44-year-old, obese, atheistic, Jewish man with Asperger syndrome who lives in New York.
I am not sure if this movie has been made into a Bluray or DVD and is available in Singapore. Let us know where you can find it if you happen to know :3
Again, I have to highlight this – this is NOT a cartoon and is NOT suitable for kids. While this is an animated film and has plenty of humor, there are several scenes that are not meant for kids and some points of the story deals with the dark and mature themes. This film is rated NC-16 in Singapore.

the guy on the left is Michael Allan, visual effects supervisor for Mary and Max (correct me if I am wrong)

Konata was pretty excited
National Museum of Singapore is located just beside SMU, which is near Stamford Road. Here is the official site. Do you like the tranquility near National Museum ? Here are some photos taken before I attended the screening of the movie.
