This news is quoted from ANN which derived the news from Impress.jp:
On Monday, police in Japan arrested 10 individuals on suspicion of using the Share file-sharing software to upload films, music, anime, games, and other content on the Internet without the copyright holders’ permission.
In June, the Japanese parliament passed an amendment that will make it illegal to knowingly download copyrighted material without authorization for the first time. The new law will go into effect on January 1, 2010.
Alright…so? This might be what you are thinking, but I am more curious what is gonna happen in 2010 with this new law in action, will it actually curb uploading? Whaddya guys tink ?

One acronym. VPN.
Is paid service, but makes it all but impossible for in-country authorities to track you. Especially if the VPN host is in a country that doesn’t care much.

prisoner A: check it out its that guy again
prisoner B: yeah the one from last time
prisoner A: heh, getting caught twice in the same week. what is he an idiot?
prisoner C: no, it’s just that there was a two episodes special this week.
I don’t think it will change much about the distribution of media on the Internet. There will always be someone who will up it somewhere and then it will spread. However, downloading will most likely note a decrease in Japan.
As regards fansubs, as far as I know, most of fansubbing groups have their own sources of raws, some raw providers. So I believe they are able to secretly get the videos.
end of uploads? please.
last time I checked, piracy was illegal, too. ever heard of countries like aruba or the phillipines? they get the same stuff we do anyways. someone will help us out there!
