By now, you might be already aware of the issue that is plaguing the old PS3 sets (not PS3 slims) that cause your games not able to boot up even when you are playing it offline. Gamers are enraged with such a issue and have complained. Rumors spreading everywhere.
Sony have acknowledged this issue in twitter and also on the community page that they are looking into it. Cases of clocks being reset and even data loss were reported. Speculations came up that it might be the PSN unable to handle leap years properly.
Sony have released an official note on the Playstation page

This is sucking major balls for me. =/
For once I’m glad my fat got the yellow light of death, was unrepairable and I had to buy a new slim.
i rented 2 games at the weekend, heavy rain and aliens vs predator now i cant play either. all over an internal clock error!?
i doubt sony will even bother to attempt to fix it, as if it is an internal clock error it should rectify its-self in a day.
unbelievable. il remember this when the next gen comes along.
12:10am!!!(16:10 in uk) hmmmm i hope the ps3 clock is on american time too….
My ps3 was affecetd I think. I didn’t touch it for a while so i wouldn’t know. Guess it’ll happen again next February. :P
issue has been fixed though. no problems as of now.
