Games Convention Asia 2009

Went down on saturday to check out the Games Convention Asia 2009 down at Suntec City. It showcased some of the latest games as well as some regional gaming competitions.

Rather small grounds and not much of a crowd this time.

I noticed that the exhibition leaned heavily towards console and online games. Wonder where the PC games are.

EA is there, a lot of people were trying out FIFA 10

Need for Speed: Shift ?

They had a booth showcasing IAH games such as Granado Espada.

There was also a rather interesting MMORPG there called Dragonica.

It reminds me of Maplestory except in 3D. It was nice to try for awhile but I’ve sworn off MMORPGs :3

They were giving out free coca-cola zero too.

Which I think tastes like crap. Too much gas and tastes weird.

I’ll take the actual coke any day and non-carbonated drinks even more so.

not sure what game they are playing, but they were moving the Wii controller super fast

I never knew but it turns out NUS has a gaming team competing in the online FPS game Blackshot going by the team name “Cherry Pickers”.

It was apparently chosen by a NUS professor though I have suspicions on the reason behind such an unusual name for a gaming team.

Perhaps it has some connotations or some history behind it?

He’s a NUS CAS member too ^^

Not many were there since the cosplay competition is the next day but they were still there ^^
